World-renowned DJ Tiesto's former tax attorney, Frank Butselaar, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for tax fraud. Prosecutors allege Butselaar hid $100 million in income for his wealthy clients, including Tiesto and fellow DJ Afrojack, through offshore tax shelters. Tiesto and Afrojack have reportedly resolved their differences with the IRS but may have to pay back the $19 million in taxes that Butselaar allegedly saved them.

Prosecutors for the Justice Department requested that the corruption case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams be dismissed. Acting US Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove had ordered Manhattan’s chief federal prosecutor, Danielle Sassoon, to drop the case. Sassoon resigned instead of carrying out the directive, and Justice Department officials asked to take over the case also stepped down.

US stocks closed mixed on Friday, with the Nasdaq 100 (^NDX) notching a record high to cap a busy week of tariff hikes, inflation updates, and retail sales data that fell short of expectations.
