UnitedHealth Insurance Offers Buyouts, Layoffs Considered in Benefits Division

UnitedHealth Group's (UNH) insurance arm has extended buyout offers to employees within its benefits operations division, with a deadline of March 3 for acceptance, CNBC reported Wednesday. Individuals who decline the buyouts will remain in their current roles or be transitioned to comparable positions.

Sources familiar with the situation indicate that if the benefits operations unit, known as UnitedHealthcare, fails to reach its resignation quota through the buyout program, it will resort to layoffs. The unit encompasses various subdivisions involved in customer service, claims processing, enrollment services, and the management of member benefits.

UnitedHealth has yet to provide an official response to Reuters' request for comment.
