AI Rivalry Heats Up as Salesforce's Benioff Blasts Microsoft's Copilot

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff has reignited his criticism of Microsoft's AI business tools.

"Everyone knows that Microsoft has disappointed the world with Copilot, which is simply a repackaged ChatGPT," Benioff asserted to Yahoo Finance.

This follows a recent statement by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, who downplayed the significance of standalone business applications in the era of AI agents.

Despite Microsoft's spokesperson declining to comment on Benioff's remarks, the rivalry between Salesforce's Agentforce and Microsoft's Copilot for workplace dominance continues.

Salesforce closed 2,000 AI-related deals in the third quarter, including partnerships with FedEx, IBM, and Accenture. Agentforce's consumption has reportedly been strong, with Salesforce charging $2 per conversation.

Benioff is bullish on Agentforce, citing its rapid adoption and the company's stock price surge since its launch. However, some analysts remain skeptical. Guggenheim's John DiFucci downgraded Salesforce to Sell due to concerns about monetization and the company's limited advantage in providing AI solutions compared to dynamic data providers.

The battle for AI supremacy continues as industry leaders navigate the rapidly evolving landscape.
