Methodology

For employees, the majority fall under HMRC's National Insurance category A (Class 1A). The current employer NI rate is 13.8%, payable on earnings above the Secondary Threshold (currently £758 per month or £9,100 per year). From April 2025, this will increase to 15%. Employers can reduce their liability through the Employment Allowance, which will increase to £10,500 from April 2023.
