Japan Responds to US Tariff Proposal

TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan has initiated communication with the United States following President Donald Trump's order to develop plans for retaliatory tariffs.

"We've already begun communicating with the U.S. side," said Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi. "We will respond appropriately while examining the details and impact of the measures."

Trump instructed his economic team to devise tariffs on countries that tax U.S. imports.
