Hydrogen Fueling Facility Planned for Heavy-Duty Trucks Near Port of Savannah

Hydrogen Fleet, a hydrogen industry specialist, announces plans to construct a $33 million production and fueling facility in Pooler, Georgia, to cater to heavy-duty hydrogen fuel cell trucks. The facility will initially support 7-14 trucks daily, expanding to a capacity of 50 trucks per day in the future.

The project involves Glovis America, a subsidiary of Hyundai Glovis, the 3PL arm of Hyundai Motor Co. Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America, located nearby, has deployed 21 Hyundai Xcient hydrogen fuel cell trucks for logistics operations.

Pooler's strategic location near major interstates and the Port of Savannah makes it ideal for the facility, as stated by HydroFleet CEO Scott Moe. The company aims to provide customers with zero-emission fleets at competitive prices.

Replacing one diesel-powered Class 8 truck with a hydrogen fuel cell truck can eliminate over 400 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. The Pooler facility, once operational at full capacity, will reduce CO2 emissions in the Savannah region by over 40,000 metric tons each year.
