Germany Prepared to Counter Potential Trade Restrictions from US

BERLIN, Germany (Reuters) - Europe stands ready to respond to any potential trade restrictions imposed by the United States, German Economy Minister Robert Habeck declared on Monday. This statement follows discussions with industry leaders and the European Union's top trade official regarding the threat of U.S. tariffs.

"Europe must and can only react with unity and determination to unilateral trade restrictions. And we are prepared for it," Habeck emphasized in a statement.

Habeck convened a roundtable discussion with industry representatives on the future of trans-Atlantic relations on Monday and subsequently engaged in a phone conversation with EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic.
