EssilorLuxottica's Nuance Audio Glasses Receive FDA Clearance

ROME, Jan 23 (Reuters) - EssilorLuxottica announced on Monday that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved its over-the-counter Nuance audio glasses.

Nuance, which integrates hearing solutions with prescription eyewear, will be available in the U.S. and Italy in Q1 2023 and is expected to roll out in other European nations, including France, Germany, and the UK, in H1 2025, according to a company statement.

"We have not only combined two medical devices but have also created a completely new category of smart glasses. This is not just groundbreaking but also highly accessible. We are now excited to focus on bringing this life-changing technology to people's hands," said Francesco Milleri, Chairman, and CEO.

Through Nuance, the company seeks to cater to the global population of approximately 1.25 billion people experiencing mild to moderate hearing loss, the statement added.
