Disney Scales Back DEI Initiatives Amidst Trump Administration's Executive Orders

Disney (DIS) has removed several diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs from its latest 10-K filing, aligning with President Trump's efforts to dismantle federal DEI initiatives.

The Reimagine Tomorrow initiative, which aimed to amplify underrepresented voices, has been removed. The company also eliminated The Disney Look appearance guidelines, opting for a more inclusive approach to employee expression.

These moves follow a trend of high-profile companies reevaluating their DEI initiatives after the Trump administration's executive orders. Target, Meta, Walmart, McDonald's, Ford, and John Deere are among those that have taken similar actions.

Disney's pivot is notable given its long-standing battle over its special tax district, which was seized by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis after the company's opposition to the "Don't Say Gay" law.

CEO Bob Iger has weighed in on Disney's "woke" agenda, stating that the company's primary mission is entertainment. While acknowledging responsibilities to employees and stakeholders, Iger emphasized the importance of only weighing in on issues that directly impact Disney's business or people.
