BP Brazil Head Takes Over Sugar and Ethanol Unit

Andres Guevara de La Vega has been appointed CEO of BP Bioenergy, BP's sugar and ethanol business in Brazil, effective immediately. He succeeds Geovane Consul, who has decided to step down.

Guevara de La Vega will concurrently serve as President of BP Brazil. The appointment comes after BP acquired the remaining 50% stake in its Brazilian ethanol joint venture with Bunge Global SA in 2021.

BP now holds full ownership of 11 sugar-cane mills in Brazil, bolstering its potential for advanced biofuel production. Ethanol derived from sugar-cane has a lower carbon footprint than corn-based ethanol and is considered crucial for sustainable aviation fuel.

Guevara de La Vega joined BP Brazil as Head in September 2022. Consul is leaving BP "to pursue new challenges."
