Biden Administration's Airline Fee Disclosure Rule Halted

A U.S. appeals court has temporarily blocked the Biden administration's rule requiring airlines to disclose upfront fees. The court found that the Transportation Department failed to follow proper procedural rules when implementing the regulation.

The rule, issued in April, aimed to increase transparency for consumers by mandating airlines and ticket agents to clearly display all fees associated with airfare. This measure was intended to prevent travelers from incurring unexpected or unnecessary charges.

The court's ruling has sent the rule back to the Transportation Department for reconsideration and correction of the procedural errors identified. The department will have an opportunity to address these issues before the rule can be implemented.
