Paramount-Owned Channels Face YouTube TV Blackout

Paramount and YouTube TV are in a contract dispute, with CBS, Comedy Central, and MTV set to be removed from the streaming service if an agreement is not reached.

Paramount claims that YouTube TV is pressuring the company to accept unfavorable terms, while YouTube TV argues it is seeking a fair agreement to keep Paramount channels.

The dispute centers on carriage fees, payments made by streaming platforms to broadcasters for the right to distribute their content. Such disputes have become more common, leading to content blackouts.

YouTube TV has stated it is offering subscribers an $8 credit if content is unavailable for an extended period. The service recommends signing up for Paramount+ to continue watching CBS and related channels.

Neither Paramount nor Google has yet commented on the situation. YouTube TV recently increased its basic package price to $82.99 per month.
