Warner Bros. Discovery's Gaming Head to Depart After 12 Years

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has announced the departure of David Haddad, President of Warner Bros. Games, after 12 years with the company. Haddad will remain in his role for the next three months to facilitate a smooth transition.

The company is actively searching for a replacement for Haddad, who has played a pivotal role in the development and publishing of numerous successful games and franchises. Under Haddad's leadership, Warner Bros. Games has released titles such as "Hogwarts Legacy," "Game of Thrones: Conquest," and "Golf Clash."

"Hogwarts Legacy" became a sales phenomenon in 2023, while "Mortal Kombat 1" also ranked among the year's top-selling games. However, the company's highly anticipated release in 2024, "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League," underperformed expectations. Despite being envisioned as a live-service game, it failed to engage players with its release and subsequent content updates. The studio responsible for the title has announced that it will discontinue updates after the launch of its final season in January.

Haddad's departure comes at a time when the company is navigating a changing gaming landscape. The rise of mobile and cloud gaming, coupled with the emergence of new technologies like artificial intelligence, are shaping the future of the industry.
