Warner Bros Discovery and Cutting Edge Group have announced a groundbreaking joint venture to co-own and manage the former's vast catalog of film and TV music rights.

Under the agreement, Warner Bros will retain creative and operational control of the music assets while Cutting Edge will co-manage the partnership and make a substantial investment. German asset manager DWS Group is also participating as a co-investor and sponsor.

This venture represents one of the largest music rights deals in history, encompassing nearly a century of copyrights spanning iconic franchises such as Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, DC Comics, Friends, and Game of Thrones, among others.

The joint venture aims to maximize the distribution and revenue potential of the extensive music portfolio, which comprises over 400,000 compositions and song cues.

Cutting Edge Group, established in 2006, has built a renowned portfolio of film soundtrack albums and brings deep expertise in music rights management to the partnership.

This collaboration harnesses the strengths of both companies to enhance the value and accessibility of Warner Bros Discovery's unparalleled music catalog for generations to come.
