Northeast Storm

The northeastern storm threatens to dump up to 4 inches of snow in Washington, DC, the site of President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration on Monday. New York City and Philadelphia may receive 4 to 6 inches of snow, with Boston potentially receiving over 6 inches. As the storm passes, wind speeds will increase on Monday, making temperatures in Washington feel like 10°F (-12.2°C).

FlightAware reports hundreds of flight cancellations in New York on Sunday, primarily at Newark, New Jersey, and Washington's major airports.

Texas Cold Snap

Texas faces a cold snap and expected snow. A winter storm warning will be in effect for southeastern Texas from 6 p.m. Monday to 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. The frigid conditions could impact oil production, refineries, and chemical plants along the Gulf Coast.

Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport and William P. Hobby Airport have announced temporary suspensions of operations from midnight Tuesday, January 21. Schools in and around Houston will remain closed through Wednesday due to snow and cold.

Santa Ana Winds in Southern California

On the opposite coast, Santa Ana winds are expected to intensify across Southern California, with gusts reaching 60 mph in some areas. The Weather Prediction Center has issued red-flag fire warnings for the region.
