Ubisoft Restructures, Closes British Studio Amid Cost-Cutting Drive

French video game giant Ubisoft has announced the closure of its Leamington site in the United Kingdom and restructurings at its Düsseldorf, Stockholm, and Reflections studios, affecting 185 employees.

The moves are part of a cost-cutting and prioritization strategy aimed at ensuring long-term stability. Ubisoft has faced challenges in recent times, including delays and underperforming titles.

The closure of the Leamington studio, confirmed by Ubisoft in a LinkedIn post, aligns with the company's global review of operations to enhance player experiences in a competitive market.

Previously, Ubisoft closed its San Francisco and Osaka studios and scaled down production in Sydney, resulting in job losses in all three locations. The company has also appointed advisors to explore strategic options for maximizing stakeholder value.

Ubisoft is set to release "Assassin's Creed Shadows," the latest installment in its popular franchise, on March 20.
