Trump Orders Halt to Penny Production Amid Cost Concerns

In a bold move to reduce government spending, President Donald Trump has instructed the Treasury Department to halt the production of new pennies. The President cited the significant cost of producing each one-cent coin, which exceeds its face value.

"For far too long, the United States has minted pennies that literally cost us more than 2 cents. This is so wasteful!" Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The announcement aligns with the administration's focus on cutting costs and streamlining government operations. Trump has pledged to eliminate unnecessary expenses, even if it involves scrutinizing small budgetary items like pennies.

"Let's rip the waste out of our great nation's budget, even if it's a penny at a time," he stated.

The decision comes after Trump attended the first half of the Super Bowl in New Orleans.
