Trump Accuses Banks of Discriminating Against Conservatives

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, President Donald Trump alleged that Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase were denying banking services to conservatives. Trump, however, provided no specific evidence or examples of such wrongdoing.

During a question-and-answer session with business leaders, Trump stated, "I hope you start opening your bank to conservatives because many conservatives complain the banks are not allowing them to do business...what you're doing is wrong."

Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan did not directly respond to Trump's accusation. Instead, he praised Trump for hosting the upcoming World Cup.

In an emailed statement, a Bank of America spokesperson denied the claims. "We serve over 70 million clients, welcome conservatives, and have no political litmus test. We have never, and would never, close an account for political reasons."

A JPMorgan spokesperson also denied the allegations in an emailed statement. "We follow the law and regulatory guidance and have long said there are issues with the current framework that Washington must address. We welcome the opportunity to work with the new Administration and Congress to resolve any ambiguities."
