Tesla Unveils Upgraded Model Y with Revised Exterior, Interior, and Features

Tesla has launched an enhanced version of the Model Y in the US and Europe, featuring significant updates to its design and performance. The new model boasts a refreshed exterior with Cybertruck-inspired light bars, while the interior has been redesigned for improved ergonomics and comfort.

The "Launch Series" is currently the only available trim, priced at $59,990 before incentives. It features all-wheel drive and will begin deliveries in March. Older Model Y variants remain available for purchase, with the long-range rear-wheel drive model starting at $44,990, the long-range all-wheel drive at $47,990, and the performance all-wheel drive at $51,990. Tesla has not specified the duration of the older Model Y's availability.

The new Model Y was initially unveiled in China in January and is now being introduced to global markets. Its predecessor, the Model 3, received a well-received update in 2023, which contributed to increased production and reduced production costs.

Tesla hopes that the refreshed Model Y will boost sales, following a disappointing fourth quarter delivery shortfall in 2024. The company aims to reestablish its 50% growth rate by introducing a lower-priced EV in early 2025 and other new vehicles. Tesla is scheduled to announce its Q4 and full-year financial results on Wednesday, January 29th.
