Tesla Selects Showroom Locations in New Delhi and Mumbai

Tesla has identified locations for two showrooms in India's major cities: New Delhi and Mumbai. The move signifies the company's progress in its long-awaited plans to enter the Indian automotive market.

Tesla plans to lease space for its New Delhi showroom in the Aerocity area, known for its global corporations, hotels, and retail outlets. In Mumbai, the company has chosen a location in the business hub of Bandra Kurla Complex. Both showrooms will span approximately 5,000 square feet.

Although opening dates have yet to be confirmed, Tesla intends to sell imported electric vehicles (EVs) through these showrooms. The outlets will not serve as service centers.

Tesla has also posted job openings for various mid-level positions in India, including store and customer relationship managers.

The company's plans come amidst negotiations with the Indian government regarding high import tariffs on EVs, which Tesla has criticized. Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, has repeatedly lobbied for tariff reductions, citing concerns that they could hinder the adoption of electric vehicles in the country.
