Stellantis Moves Forward with Mid-Size Pickup Production in Illinois

Stellantis (STLA), parent company of Chrysler, announced plans to proceed with the construction of a new mid-size pickup truck facility in Belvidere, Illinois. The project, initially delayed in August, will see Stellantis invest a total of $4.7 billion in the area.

In 2023, the automaker committed to building a $3.2 billion battery plant and investing $1.5 billion in Belvidere to manufacture mid-size trucks by 2027. The decision to move forward with these investments follows a meeting between Stellantis Chairman John Elkann and President Donald Trump, where the company's U.S. strategy was discussed.

Stellantis's decision is expected to create jobs and boost the local economy in Belvidere. The new pickup truck will complement the company's existing lineup of vehicles and cater to a growing segment of the automotive market.
