Stellantis Expands US Operations to Align with Trump's Agenda

In response to the Biden administration's emphasis on domestic production, auto giant Stellantis (STLA) is implementing strategic moves in the United States.

Following a meeting between group chairman John Elkann and President Trump, Stellantis' North America COO, Antonio Filosa, acknowledged Trump's support for US manufacturing and economic growth.

To this end, Stellantis plans to invest billions in its US operations, including:

* Construction of a midsize pickup truck at the recently closed Belvidere, Illinois assembly plant, employing 1,500 UAW members.
* Production of the next-generation Dodge Durango SUV at the Detroit Assembly Complex, refuting rumors of relocation to Canada.
* Investments in the Toledo assembly plant to enhance Wrangler and Gladiator production with advanced technology.
* Expansion of tooling operations in Toledo for in-house production of critical components.
* Investment in the Kokomo, Indiana plant for the development of a new four-cylinder engine, establishing the US as its manufacturing hub.

These announcements come amid Trump's tariff threats on imports from Mexico and Canada, where Stellantis has production facilities.

Stellantis will provide further details on its plans and financial performance during its earnings report on February 26.
