SoftBank Group CEO Masayoshi Son has partnered with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to establish a joint venture in Japan. The venture will provide AI services to corporate clients.
SoftBank is increasing its involvement with OpenAI, with plans to invest between $15 billion and $25 billion in the company. It has also pledged $15 billion to Stargate, a collaboration between OpenAI and Oracle to build AI capabilities in the US.
Son's involvement in the Stargate launch marked his second meeting with former US President Donald Trump. Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba is scheduled to meet Trump this week.
