Samsung Unveils Galaxy S25 Series: AI-Centric Flagships with Enhanced Cameras

San Jose, Calif. - Samsung unveiled its latest flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S25 series, at its Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday. The devices emphasize advanced AI capabilities while featuring modest hardware enhancements. Available from February 7th, the Google Android-powered lineup includes the $799 Galaxy S25, the $999 S25+, and the $1,299 S25 Ultra.

Enhanced Cameras and Display Sizes

The primary distinction between the models lies in their screen sizes and camera arrangements. The S25 boasts a 6.2-inch display, while the S25+ features a larger 6.7-inch panel. The S25 Ultra, the series' top-tier model, sports a spacious 6.9-inch screen.

In terms of cameras, the S25 and S25+ are equipped with 50MP wide angle, 12MP ultra-wide angle, and 10MP telephoto lenses with 3X zoom. The S25 Ultra, however, offers a remarkable 200MP wide-angle lens and a 50MP wide-angle lens, along with 10MP 3x and 50MP 5x telephoto lenses.

AI Revolution

Samsung places a major emphasis on AI in the S25 series, leveraging its Galaxy AI platform and a suite of features that streamline user experiences. Cross App Action, powered by Bixby and Google's Gemini AI, enables users to seamlessly retrieve information from one app and utilize it in another. For example, you can request schedule information for a Kansas City Chiefs game, and the device will extract the date and time from Google Search and add an event to your Calendar app.

Generative AI capabilities extend beyond text and photo editing, providing practical utility. Ask your Galaxy S25 to gather ingredients from a YouTube recipe, and the feature will extract the list and add it to your Notes app.

Personal Data Engine and Smart Home Integration

Samsung's Personal Data Engine powers AI-powered on-device searches within the Gallery app and generates proactive updates throughout the day via Now Brief. This feature combines information from various Samsung devices, such as the Galaxy Ring and compatible thermostats, to provide tailored recommendations.

Now Brief offers useful suggestions, such as adjusting room temperature based on your sleep tracking patterns or suggesting turning off the TV when the Galaxy Ring detects you sleeping.

Privacy and Security

Samsung emphasizes privacy and security, allowing users to disable data collection or delete data used by AI features. The Personal Data Engine is processed solely on the device, and no apps can access it. Cloud-based AI services employ end-to-end encryption with post-quantum cryptography.

Hardware Upgrades and Availability

The S25 series boasts improved performance, powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip. Storage options range from 128GB to 1TB, depending on the model.
