Davos: Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff Slams Rival Microsoft's AI Capabilities
At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Salesforce (CRM) CEO Marc Benioff has reignited his criticism of Microsoft's (MSFT) AI offerings.
"Microsoft has disappointed the world with Copilot, which is essentially a repackaged ChatGPT," Benioff told Yahoo Finance.
This critique follows comments by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, who recently questioned the sustainability of business applications in the "agent era."
Salesforce's Agentforce Gains Traction
Salesforce's AI bots, which can handle customer queries and product descriptions, are competing with Microsoft's Copilot. In the third quarter, Salesforce closed 200 Agentforce deals with clients like FedEx (FDX), IBM (IBM), and Accenture (ACN).
According to sources, Agentforce consumption remains strong, with Salesforce charging $2 per conversation.
Analyst Skepticism
Despite the positive market sentiment towards AI agents, some analysts express skepticism. Guggenheim analyst John DiFucci recently downgraded Salesforce's rating to Sell.
DiFucci believes Salesforce may struggle to monetize Agentforce effectively unless it acquires specific assets with already established AI capabilities.
