Rodney Hood Takes Over as Acting Head of OCC

WASHINGTON, Feb 10 (Reuters) - The U.S. Treasury Department announced on Friday that Rodney Hood, a former credit union regulator, will assume the role of acting comptroller of the currency. Hood succeeds Michael Hsu, who has led the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), responsible for overseeing the country's largest banks, since Biden's presidency.

Hood, who will serve in an acting capacity, previously served as Chairman of the National Credit Union Administration from 2019 to 2021 under both Trump and Biden administrations. He also held positions at JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America, as mentioned in his LinkedIn profile.

"Rodney Hood's strong leadership and career experience will bolster the OCC's efforts to maintain the safety and soundness of the banking system while fostering economic growth," said Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

Hood's appointment as Deputy Comptroller and First Deputy Comptroller of the OCC will be effective upon Bessent's approval.
