PepsiCo CEO Aiming to Address Food Industry Concerns with Trump Administration

Davos, Switzerland - PepsiCo CEO Ramon Laguarta has expressed his desire to engage with the new Trump administration to promote positive changes in the food industry.

"We have been leading the transformation of the food industry for many years, particularly in reducing sodium, sugar, fat, and artificial colors," Laguarta stated at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Concerns surrounding packaged foods stocks have arisen due to the Trump administration's stance on health-related issues. However, PepsiCo maintains that it does not use the recently banned red dye No. 3 in its U.S. products.

Laguarta emphasized the importance of science-based and pragmatic collaboration between the industry and the government in eliminating artificial colors from U.S. food products. He set an ambitious goal of achieving this objective within three to four years.

Challenges and Outlook for PepsiCo

The company's recent financial performance has been impacted by slower growth in its snacks and beverages businesses and the rising U.S. dollar. RBC analyst Nik Modi anticipates below-algorithm guidance for 2025, as PepsiCo focuses on reinvesting in weaker business segments.
