Oracle Co-Founder Advocates for Unified National Data for AI

Oracle Corp.'s Larry Ellison, co-founder and chairman, has proposed that governments consolidate national data for consumption by AI models, deeming it the "missing link" for AI to reach its full potential.

Unifying Fragmented Data

Ellison believes that fragmented data sets on health, agriculture, infrastructure, procurement, and borders should be integrated into a secure, accessible database for AI models. This consolidation, he argues, can benefit countries with rich population data sets like the UK and UAE by reducing costs and enhancing public services, especially healthcare.

Oracle's Cloud Focus

Oracle, renowned for its database software, has expanded its cloud infrastructure business, competing with rivals such as Microsoft Corp. and Amazon.com Inc. The demand for training large-language models in the cloud has driven growth in this area.

Government Waste and Fraud

Ellison also emphasizes that upgrading government digital infrastructure can help identify waste and fraud. He cites the outdated IT systems in the US government as obstacles in detecting "vast amounts of fraud" and commends Elon Musk's efforts at the Department of Government Efficiency to address it.

Stargate Initiative

Oracle, in collaboration with OpenAI (ChatGPT developer) and SoftBank Group Corp., is working on a plan named Stargate to advance AI infrastructure in the US.
