Optus Sport, Australia's premier sports streaming service owned by Singapore Telecommunications, is reportedly in talks to sell its platform to media company Nine Entertainment.

According to the Australian Financial Review, the potential deal would give Nine's streaming service Stan exclusive rights to stream the English Premier League, while Optus would concentrate on its core telecommunications offerings.

Sources familiar with the negotiations have shared this information, but neither Optus, Nine Entertainment, nor SingTel have responded to requests for comment from Reuters.

This news follows DAZN's acquisition of Foxtel, a cable-TV provider, for A$3.4 billion ($2.11 billion) last month. The British-based sports network will gain access to Australian Football League and National Rugby League rights as a result, allowing it to enter the Australian market.
