OpenAI Prepares to Unveil ReasonAI Model o3 Mini in Weeks

OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, is set to debut a refined version of its ReasonAI model, o3 mini, in the coming weeks. This announcement was made by CEO Sam Altman on Friday.

In response to user feedback, OpenAI will simultaneously release both the API and ChatGPT, Altman stated via social media.

Initially tested in December, o3 and o3 mini models represent a competitive advancement in AI technology, challenging rivals like Google's ReasonAI models. OpenAI intended to launch o3 mini by January's end and o3 subsequently, aiming to surpass existing models and secure investments.

In September 2022, OpenAI introduced o1 AI models designed for enhanced problem-solving. Capable of complex reasoning tasks, o1 models exceeded previous models in scientific, coding, and mathematical fields.

OpenAI has affirmed that o3 and o3 mini models will surpass the capabilities of o1 models.

Recently, OpenAI introduced Tasks, a beta feature for ChatGPT, expanding its virtual assistant capabilities to compete with Siri and Alexa.

ChatGPT's 2022 release sparked a surge in AI investments, leading OpenAI to secure $6.6 billion in funding last October.
