Nokia and AT&T Expand Collaboration with Multi-Year Agreement

Finnish telecom giant Nokia has secured a multi-year expansion agreement with AT&T, a prominent US carrier. The deal focuses on upgrading AT&T's voice carriage and 5G network automation systems across the United States.

This development signifies a significant stride for Nokia after losing a major contract to Ericsson, AT&T's Swedish rival, in 2023. However, Nokia has maintained a solid partnership with AT&T, evidenced by this latest agreement.

Under the terms of the deal, Nokia will upgrade AT&T's core network infrastructure, enabling the deployment of innovative voice services powered by AI and machine learning capabilities. The companies declined to disclose the agreement's financial implications.

"This deal is a testament to Nokia's long-standing relationship with AT&T. It encompasses multiple technologies and years of collaboration, unlocking new functionalities for 5G networks," stated Raghav Sahgal, President of Cloud and Network Services at Nokia.

AT&T also expressed its satisfaction with the continued partnership, highlighting its focus on optimizing network performance and meeting customer demands.

Nokia's recent financial performance has been positive, with strong fourth-quarter results driven by increased demand in North America and India. The company is optimistic about future opportunities and expects the AI boom to drive further growth. Last year, Nokia acquired Infinera to capitalize on the exponential investments in data centers and cloud infrastructure.
