Elon Musk's DOGE Team to Access Government's Accounting System

Elon Musk's "DOGE team" will visit Parkersburg, West Virginia, to gain read-only access to the US government's Central Accounting Reporting System (CARS).

CARS, located in the Bureau of Fiscal Service, provides accounting and reporting access to all federal agencies. It also processes bank information from agencies and the Federal Reserve Bank.

The visit follows a federal judge's order restricting Musk's team's access to Treasury payment systems due to privacy concerns.

Musk, an advisor to President Donald Trump, has sought access to government data systems, claiming to have canceled billions in contracts and grants.

The DOGE team will visit from Tuesday through Thursday, a source familiar with the visit confirmed.

The Parkersburg facility also houses the former Bureau of the Public Debt, which manages the national debt.

All employees in the secure facility undergo background and security checks.

Musk recently reached an agreement with Treasury officials on payment auditing and documentation.

It remains unclear if the changes requested by Musk were already being implemented.
