Mexico and US Set for Trade Talks Amid Tariffs Dispute

Mexico's Economy Secretary Marcelo Ebrard will meet with Trump administration officials in Washington on Thursday for the first round of negotiations.

The meeting comes as the US threatens to impose tariffs on all Mexican imports, straining bilateral relations.

"We aim to clarify US proposals and outline Mexico's concerns," said Ebrard. "We'll emphasize the importance of our economic integration."

The focus will be on steel and aluminum tariffs, while Mexico will also present proposals to enhance trade.

Analysts warn that broader tariffs could trigger a recession in Mexico and a trade war.

Ebrard emphasized Mexico's commitment to dialogue: "Our response will be constructive and aimed at progress."
