Petrochemicals Manufacturer Secures Wind Energy to Reduce Emissions

LyondellBasell, a leading petrochemicals manufacturer, announced its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions with the signing of power purchase agreements for wind energy in Europe. These agreements are part of a growing trend among chemical companies seeking to meet their carbon dioxide emissions reduction targets through renewable electricity purchases.

LyondellBasell's 15-year agreement with Vattenfall, a European energy firm, will provide the company with 450 GWh of offshore wind energy annually to support its low-carbon solutions in Germany. Additionally, a 10-year agreement with wpd, a renewable energy company, secures 79 GWh of onshore wind power from the Licata project in Sicily, Italy, starting from 2026.

These agreements build upon LyondellBasell's previous long-term renewable power purchase agreements with Buckeye Partners and Engie North America in 2022, demonstrating the company's commitment to sustainable operations.
