KFC Relocates Corporate Headquarters to Plano, Texas

Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is relocating its U.S. corporate office from Louisville, Kentucky, to Plano, Texas. The move, announced by parent company Yum Brands, will involve approximately 100 employees.

Reason for the Move

Yum Brands stated that the relocation is part of its strategy to establish two brand headquarters in the U.S.: Plano and Irvine, California. This move aims to enhance collaboration among KFC and its sister brands, including Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and Habit Burger & Grill.

Impact on Louisville

Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg expressed disappointment over the relocation but acknowledged that Yum Brands will maintain its corporate headquarters and 560 employees in the city. The mayor plans to meet with Yum's CEO to discuss continued growth opportunities.

Employee Support

Yum Brands will provide relocation and transition support to employees affected by the move. Additionally, remote workers will be requested to relocate to either Plano or Irvine based on their job responsibilities.

Endowment and Brand Presence

Yum Brands announced a $1 million endowment to the University of Louisville's College of Business for Yum-sponsored scholarships. KFC will also maintain its brand presence in Louisville, aiming to build a flagship restaurant.

KFC's Kentucky Heritage

KFC has deep roots in Kentucky, where founder Colonel Harland Sanders developed his secret blend of herbs and spices in 1930. The chain has since expanded to over 24,000 outlets worldwide, becoming an iconic brand recognized for its fried chicken and Colonel Sanders' image.
