IRS Distributes $1,400 Stimulus Checks to Eligible Taxpayers

Eligible taxpayers can receive a stimulus check up to $1,400 depending on their 2021 tax filing status. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has distributed approximately $2.4 billion in payments to individuals who did not claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on their 2021 tax returns.

Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for the stimulus check, taxpayers must meet the following criteria:

* Not claimed the Recovery Rebate Credit on their 2021 tax returns
* Left the Recovery Rebate Credit field blank or claimed $0

Claiming the Stimulus Check:

Eligible taxpayers do not need to take any action, as the IRS will automatically issue payments through late January. Individuals will receive a notification letter and payment via direct deposit or paper check.

Amount of Payment:

Eligible taxpayers may receive up to $1,400.

Non-Filers:

Taxpayers who did not file a 2021 tax return can still receive a stimulus check by filing their return and claiming the Recovery Rebate Credit by April 15, 2025.
