Indra Appoints Angel Escribano as Chairman Amid Leadership Reshuffle

Spanish defense and technology company Indra has announced the appointment of Angel Escribano as its new chairman. This move follows former chairman Marc Murtra's acceptance of a role as chief executive at telecom giant Telefonica.

In an extraordinary board meeting, Indra elected Escribano to replace Murtra, who took over as Telefonica's CEO on Saturday. Murtra's departure stems from a request by state-owned fund SEPI.

"We want to thank Marc Murtra for his dedication and efforts during his time at Indra," the company said in a statement. "He has played a significant role in driving the transformation of the Indra Group and establishing a strong business strategy for the future."

Escribano is the CEO and owner of Escribano Mechanical & Engineering, a private company in the defense industry. He has been a shareholder of Indra since May 2023.
