Marshall Group AB Nearing Acquisition by HongShan Capital Group

HongShan Capital Group is poised to acquire Marshall Group AB, the renowned audio equipment manufacturer, according to confidential sources.

The Stockholm-based company, known for its legendary guitar amplifiers used by iconic musicians like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Lana del Rey, could fetch an estimated $1.1 billion in the deal. The Marshall family, the company's founders, may retain a portion of their stake post-acquisition.

HongShan, previously Sequoia China, emerged as the frontrunner after outbidding other investment groups. The parties are finalizing the details of an agreement, which is expected to be completed within the coming days.

Established in 1962 in the UK, Marshall is an audio, technology, and design company specializing in amplifiers, headphones, and wireless speakers. It has a global presence in over 90 markets.

Swedish private group Zound Industries acquired Marshall in 2023, with the Marshall family maintaining a shareholder position. The acquisition also included Natal Drums, Marshall Records, and the Marshall Live Agency. Later that year, Altor Equity Partners AB obtained a significant minority stake in the business.

Representatives from HongShan, Marshall Group, and Altor did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
