AI Startup Led by Former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati Attracts Top Talent, Eyes Human-AI Collaboration

Thinking Machines Lab, an AI startup founded by Mira Murati (former OpenAI CTO), has recruited approximately 30 leading researchers and engineers from industry heavyweights like OpenAI, Meta, and Mistral.

The startup's mission, as outlined in a blog post, is to enhance human-AI collaboration within AI systems and products. Murati's ongoing fundraising efforts were reported by Reuters in October.

Murati's departure from OpenAI in September marked a notable exodus from the ChatGPT creator amidst significant governance restructurings. She briefly held the position of interim CEO in 2023 during Sam Altman's ousting.

Murati's venture joins a growing trend of startups launched by former OpenAI executives, including competitors Anthropic and Safe Superintelligence.
