Farm Frens Delays Token Airdrop Amid Telegram's Exclusive TON Shift

Farm Frens has postponed its FREN token airdrop, scheduled for February. This delay is due to Telegram's policy change regarding mini apps that integrate cryptocurrency functionalities.

Farm Frens cited "unreasonable deadlines" from Telegram and The Open Network (TON) as the primary reason for the timeline adjustment. Per an official statement, the exclusivity mandate for Telegram mini apps to utilize the TON blockchain came as a surprise.

Despite the challenges, Farm Frens has opted to launch its token on Coinbase's Base layer-2 network. TON Foundation president Manuel Stotz emphasized the importance of mini apps adopting the TON blockchain for scalability and security. Projects migrating to TON within 30 days may qualify for grants of up to $50,000.

Farm Frens plans to temporarily remove on-chain interactions from its game and focus on developing a standalone wallet. The game allows users to manage a farm and earn FREN tokens. A final snapshot for the airdrop was taken on January 20.
