EU Trade Commissioner Prioritizes Avoiding Economic Pain in Tariffs Talks

European Union (EU) trade commissioner Maros Sefcovic emphasizes preventing economic disruption for both parties as his primary objective in trade negotiations with the Trump administration.

Speaking to reporters after discussions with senior U.S. trade officials, Sefcovic expressed optimism regarding the U.S.'s willingness to negotiate tariff reductions.

"Our top priority is to avoid the period of pain that typically results from unilateral measures and countermeasures," stated Sefcovic. "Ultimately, the same individuals must come together to resolve these issues," he added.
