EU Set To Approve Nokia's $2.3B Infinera Acquisition

European Union antitrust regulators are poised to approve Nokia's acquisition of Infinera, a U.S. optical semiconductors and networking equipment provider, according to individuals familiar with the matter.

Nokia announced the deal in June 2022, aiming to solidify its position as the second-largest vendor in the optical networking market with a 20% share. Huawei currently holds the top spot, capitalizing on the limited presence of Western companies in China.

The $2.3 billion acquisition is expected to receive unconditional clearance from the EU regulators, enabling Nokia to strengthen its portfolio and expand its global reach in the optical networking sector.
