A consortium of investors led by billionaire Elon Musk has offered $97.4 billion to acquire the nonprofit that oversees AI pioneer OpenAI, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday. Musk's attorney, Marc Toberoff, reportedly delivered the offer to OpenAI's board that day. "It's time for OpenAI to return to the open-source, safety-focused force for good it once was," Musk said in a statement provided by Toberoff, according to the WSJ. "We will make sure that happens." OpenAI did not immediately respond to Reuters for comment.
