Ecuador, Canada Finalize New Trade Accord

Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa announced on social media that Ecuador and Canada have reached a new trade agreement after months of negotiations.

The accord is expected to boost local job growth across sectors including flowers, canned tuna, textiles, and auto parts, according to a statement from Noboa's administration. It also includes commitments from both nations regarding labor and environmental policies.

Negotiations began in March last year and extended over six rounds. Ecuadorians will vote in the first round of general elections on February 9, where the conservative Noboa seeks to retain his position. A second round will be held in April if required.
