Costco Teamsters Vote to Authorize Nationwide Strike
Teamsters members at U.S. retailer Costco Wholesale have voted in favor of a nationwide strike, according to a statement released on Sunday. The union represents over 18,000 workers at Costco and has been engaged in negotiations for a new contract with a deadline of January 31st.
85% of the union's members voted to authorize a strike, expressing dissatisfaction with the company's lack of constructive bargaining. The union emphasized that the master agreement between the parties expires on January 31st.
Costco has yet to provide a statement, and the final week of negotiations is scheduled to begin on January 20th.
