CNN Plans Layoffs to Focus on Global Digital Audience

CNN, a subsidiary of Warner Bros Discovery, intends to lay off a significant number of employees on Thursday as it shifts its focus toward a global digital audience, according to CNBC sources.

The layoffs aim to streamline CNN's linear TV offerings and expand digital subscription services. This move is expected to reduce production costs and consolidate teams.

CNBC reports that some shows currently produced in New York or Washington may relocate to Atlanta, where production expenses are lower.

NBC News, owned by Comcast, is also reportedly planning job cuts later this week. While the exact number is unknown, the layoffs are expected to be less than 50.

Comcast and Warner Bros Discovery have not immediately responded to requests for comment on the report.
