Argentina to Lift Import Tariffs on Electric and Hybrid Vehicles

Buenos Aires (Reuters) - Argentina will lift import tariffs on low-cost electric and hybrid vehicles starting next week, while reducing taxes on higher-priced cars and motorcycles, according to Economy Minister Luis Caputo.

Up to 50,000 imports of low-cost EVs and hybrids will be tariff-exempt annually, Caputo announced on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, domestically produced cars priced between 41 million pesos ($39,047) and 75 million pesos ($71,428) will be sold tax-free. Vehicles valued over 75 million pesos will see a tax reduction from 35% to 18%.

Tax exemption will also apply to motorcycle sales in the range of 15 million pesos to 23 million pesos.
