Apple Responds to UK Competition Regulator's Proposals on Mobile Browser Market

Apple has countered concerns raised by Britain's competition regulator regarding the mobile browser market, arguing that certain proposed remedies could stifle innovation.

Apple's Position on Feature Access Restrictions

In its response to the watchdog, Apple maintained that mandating free access to future WebKit or iOS features used by Safari would be inappropriate. The company emphasizes the significant time and resources required to develop such features.

Apple contends that imposing such restrictions would hinder its incentive to innovate due to the inability to recoup development expenses. It also expresses concerns that this could encourage third parties to free-ride and underinvest in the mobile browser ecosystem.
