Airbus Delays Hydrogen-Powered Plane Target Amid Tech Hurdles

Airbus has announced a delay in its plans to introduce a hydrogen-powered commercial aircraft by the mid-2030s, attributing the setback to slower-than-anticipated technological advancements.

The postponement marks a setback for the European aerospace giant's aspirations to spearhead the adoption of hydrogen fuel in aviation, a goal championed by CEO Guillaume Faury since its inception five years ago.

Airbus has not disclosed a revised timeline for the project, but the Force Ouvriere labor union has indicated that staff have been informed of a potential five to ten-year delay relative to the initial 2035 target.

The delay was initially reported by AFP, a French news agency.
