HP Inc has acquired the assets of Humane, an AI startup, for $116 million. This move enhances HP's AI capabilities and expands its portfolio in the face of a challenging PC market.

The acquisition includes Humane's Cosmos operating system, technical talent, and intellectual property. HP plans to establish an AI innovation lab to integrate Humane's machine learning expertise.

Humane, founded by former Apple engineers, aimed to revolutionize AI with its wearable device that provided voice assistance. However, the product faced disappointing reviews and low sales, including criticism from notable tech influencer MKBHD.

The deal provides HP with access to Humane's seasoned AI team and technology. The acquired talent will spearhead HP's efforts to develop cutting-edge AI products and solutions.

Humane's wearable device will continue to function until February 28. After this date, it will no longer connect to the company's servers, resulting in the deactivation of its AI-powered features.
